The event was also attended by the Cultural Affairs Officer Madelina M. Youg-Smith, and Cezar Borsa, advisor of Cultural Affairs of theGeneral Consulate of the United States.
Dr. Ian Lesser is Vice President of Foreign Policy at The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) and Executive Director of the Transatlantic Center at GMG’s Brussels office. Dr. Lesser participated in public policy studies at the Woodrow Wilson International Center and served as vice president and director of the Pacific Council on International Policy. For more than a decade he served as an analyst and researcher in the strategic areas of RAND’s Pacific Council. Between 1994 and 1995, Dr. Lesser was a member of the Secretary’s Policy Planning Staff at the U.S. Department of State, responsible for Turkey, Mediterranean Europe, North Africa and follow-up to multilateral negotiations and peace process in the Middle East.
Dr. Lesser began his presentation explaining the mission and performance of The German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF) as a think tank focused on transatlantic relations and debates. on the international agenda. On the subject of the lecture “The United States and the Atlantic Wider”, Dr. Ian presented his vision on the current geopolitical conjuncture and the challenges for the international order.
Following his presentation, Dr. Lesser answered the most diverse questions from the audience from the perspectives of the US-Brazil rapprochement, as well as the implications of the US-China disputes and their effects on international trade as well as youth participation debates and themes of international geopolitics.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
